Part One - Introduction and The Character Template

In order to start Role-playing here in the Wealdendun RP threads, you need a character, and in order to have a character you must fill out the following Character Template. This is to help other members have a reference page to your character so that they can better interact with you. It is also used to benefit you, as thinking about these elements will spark creativity and help you to create a unique and detailed character. The more you know about your own character, the more RP opportunities you will have and the more you will be able to write about them. Also, often one forgets small details about one's own character and having this Character Bio to refer to comes in handy quite often. You must have a character bio to begin RPing.

A character bio (or character sheet) should be detailed and comprehensive. In order to make sure you have the correct amount of information present, the required sections of the Character Template are marked with an asterisk (*). Other information may be filled out, following the Character Sheet, but please do not add categories that are not listed below.

A description of what is expected from each category will be listed at the bottom of this entry. Also, a step-by-step instruction of submitting a new character for approval will follow.

Part Two - What is Expected, Suggestions, and Warnings Concerning Your Character Bio

  • Name - This can be as simple as a first name, or a first name and a last name. It can also be as complex as First+Middle+Last or even First+Middle+Mother's Maiden+Last. Please be mindful that Wealdendun is a unique world and do not chose well known names from other stories (ie. Aragorn, Drizzt, Pendragon,  Sapphira, Lucifer, etc). If you have a character who is Elven or one that has an elvish-derived name, feel free to request a name from Natulcien. Send her a PM with the translations you would like your name to mean or simply ask her to create something from scratch. Your character must have some form of a name.

  • Birth Day - Although not required in your character bio, you may want to think about the month and day your character was born. Dates in Wealdendun are written as follows: Day of the Week, Month Name + Date, Year, Season. Wealdendun has a specific name for each month, day of the week, and season. Those can be found in Interesting Information. Keep in mind that the year (unless otherwise noted) will always be 1784. Here is an example - Middæg, Frén 29, 1784, Liftima.

  • Age - This is how old your character is while you are role-playing with him/her. Be mindful of the age of the world as no one can be any older than 1784. Also, no character can be older than Natulcien and Genipan which is around 1580 years. No dragon can be any older than 1300 years old. Remember that elves are immortal, wolven changelings, faeries, and wizards have incredibly long lives, and mortals have the shortest lifespan. If you have any questions, be sure to ask an admin or mod.

  • Eyes- Describe any interesting characteristics of your character's eyes along with the color. Unique eyes are very interesting, but not required.
  • Hair- Describe the length, style, color, thickness, etc. (If you are a race that doesn't have hair, omit this section except when you have a human form in addition.)
  • Physical Description- This is where you need to spend a bit of time. Describe the build (muscular, skinny, etc) and the height and weight. Be sure to cover skin color, complexion, identifying marks or scars, posture etc. Unique features such as ears, hands, feet, back, fur, wings, etc should be discussed here. If you have a creature form and a human form, describe both here. In short, you need to describe what your character looks like but not focusing on clothing or weapons.Absolutely NO images used in substitution for words.

  • Appearance/Clothing- All articles of clothing should be described here. Absolutely NO images used in substitution for words. Hats, gloves, shirts, pants, belts, boots, packs, capes, jewelry, etc should all be described in detail. If your character wears it often enough, it should be at least mentioned. You may also list armor here, or in the weapons' section.

  • Weapon(s)- Weapons can include anything from swords to magic, from poison to fists, from treachery to shields. If your character wields a particular weapon, please do not only list the types of weapons but go into detail. How the weapon looks, feels, and was acquired. Your weapon can have a name, or not - it does not matter either way except the weapon cannot be a well known name such as Excalibur or Aegis-fang. If your character has a particular fighting style, describe it. And if your character is passive, state as such and describe how he/she would react if attacked.
  • Horse- Describe what your horse looks like, the name, and how you came to ride this horse. If there is a special bond or interesting story involving your horse, you may list it here. If you do not own/ride one, leave this portion blank.
  • Unique Possessions- These include such things as magical items, letters from family, trinkets, a pack with writing utensils, musical instruments, books, and more. If you character uses them or mentions them, even slightly, include them here. But do not merely list them - as in everything in your bio, describe them as much as you can from appearance and significance to their acquisition.
  • Home- Home can mean many things, it just depends on your character. Home can be where you were born and raised, or it can mean where you now live. If both apply to your character, mention where you were born AND where you now live, briefly addressing the issues of why you no longer live in the place of your birth. You may go into greater detail about your family history in the family history section.
  • Colors-
  • Banner-
  • Other Names-
  • Mother- You character's mother's name. Please do not be mundane and merely state that you never knew your parents. If we approved every character that danced their way through a bio claiming this, Wealdendun would practically be populated by orphans.  Be creative! You don't have to have dead or vanishing parents to be unique. Maybe your family comes from a long line of thieves, or bards. Give your mother's first name for certain, last name as well if you are feeling creative. Try to think about where your mother came from and what she does/did in her life. This does not have to be as long as the details about your actual character, but try to put some thought into her - you were born from her, after all. Adopted parents are fine as well, as long as you detail a plausible reason for being ripped away from your real parents.
  • Father- Same as above, but adding more detail  for all three sections as follows. Parents and family members do not have to be drab, disappointing, depressing, or mean. Supportive families can be just as interesting,if not more so. Unique misfortunes in one's life are interesting, but we like to keep things varied in Wealdendun so please try to write/create something special, unique, or interesting.
  • Siblings- Same as the above two, but adding more details for all three sections. You may have as many, or as few, siblings as you wish. But please, in regards to parents and other family members, do NOT make your character related to key historical characters without prior approval from Natulcien. This means you cannot be the long lost daughter of Genipan or the magical duplicate of Mortar, the brother of Bryne, or the consort of Natulcien. Other relations to RPing member's characters must be approved by the member you wish to be related to. You can be related to other members, but please ask their permission first.

Part Three - Step-by-step Instruction on Submitting a New Character For Approval

This is currently in the editing stage - please return later for a full version.

Every character on this website must have an approved character bio posted in the appropriate section. An approved bio means that an admin or mod has read your bio, made corrections, given input, the bio has been fixed to our standards and you have been given the O.K to start RPing. This assures us that you know your character well enough to write about him/her, that other members will be able to find your bio to better RP with you, and that you understand our world and its history well enough not to make painfully out-of-place posts. Detailed below is the process on submitting a bio for approval.

  • 1 - We highly recommend that you save a copy of your bio on your computer before you post your bio on our forum. You never know when your internet may quit, your web-browser freeze, or you hit a few wrong buttons and lose it all. All of the effort put into a bio would be very frustrating to lose. So, save a copy first.
  • 2 - Be sure you have read through all of Part 1 and Part 2 of this thread - Character Template + Bio Instructions. If you cannot follow the guidelines placed here, you will not be approved. If you have any questions during the process, please do not hesitate to ask.
  • 3 - If you would like input or help as you create your character, the Beginner's Board has an area where you can post your work-in-progress and receive help from veteran members and staff. <<Put a link in this>>
  • 5 - You must read all of the site rules and suggestions found in Official Directions for new members. This will give you information on how to learn about the different races, picking a race, and more. It is vital that you are familiar with this section of the site.
  • 6 - Each race has its own thread for bios. The links to those pages can be found here <<Put link here>>. Follow the links to the thread for the race you have chosen.
  • 7 - Post your character bio, following the template seen here, in the thread of your race. Yes, your bio will appear as a reply to the much longer thread but this helps us organize all the character of each race in a common thread. (Find your race's biography link here We do not like to have a new thread for every character as it becomes rather messy. Wait for comments or edits from admins/mods and act accordingly. When you have been officially approved by an admin.mod, she/he may leave comments, but will also give you a stamp of approval. Example:

  • 8 - Once you have been officially approved by a staff member, you are able to post.

Please be respectful to the staff members as they are trying to help you improve your character and also make sure your character fits into the world of Wealdendun. Be patient dedicated to making your character the best it can be.
